Starting 2023 with a bang with a custom Filipiñana Pageant Gown for Alex.
She was looking for a custom made dress that she will wear for her gown walk in a NJ-NY pageant for Filipino organizations of various universities, Ms. Philippines 2023

She definitely loves red.
Ahh yes. The infamous lava dress. Her inspiration was heavily based on Catirona’s dress made by Mak Tumang.
The limitation with the design is the fabrication. This was established in the beginning because we can only work off of available fabrics that give a similar aesthetic.
One of her features that she wants to emphasize was her back so we were looking at backless designs that allows her to be confident with her back while keeping the technicalities side (the Filipiñana sleeves needs support so they keep up and is hard to achieve with a backless design) achievable.

We jumped off of sketches after sketch but eventually finalized it on this design.
This was the design minus the detachable skirt,
She also requested for her dress to have detachable Filipiñana sleeves so she can wear her dress with or without the sleeves.
This was how it turned out…
