A Boracay Love Story in Sparkles: Dionna & Ron’s Fun, Glamorous Filipiniana Reception Look
Some love stories just feel effortless, like they were always meant to unfold the way they did—rain or shine. That’s exactly how I would describe Dionna and Ron. From our very first conversation, Dionna knew exactly what she wanted: a fun, blingy, glamorous Filipiniana dress for her reception in Boracay. It was such a specific vision, and I could already tell from her energy that this was going to be a joyful and playful creative process.
Her first message said it all:
"Hello! I am looking to custom design a mini Filipiniana dress for my reception! I have inspo related to your couture line from your recent posts. I have two ideas in mind and would love to share with you…”

What made this journey even more special was getting to meet both Dionna and her fiancé Ron during our measurements consultation. Ron was the sweetest and super chill—he even helped during the fitting, which was so heartwarming to see. The way they interacted with each other—joking, smiling, completely at ease—was the kind of love that made me smile behind the scenes. They’re one of those couples that you can tell truly enjoy being around each other.
Dionna's vision was heavily inspired by our Couture Collection "Mayvellin" gown—a fully beaded, ceremonial Filipiniana look. But this time, she wanted to reimagine it as a reception dress. It was the first time I’d ever created a reception version of this design, and it was such an exciting challenge! We started with a mock-up fitting, which we sent to her to check the overall fit and silhouette. After trying it on, we realized we had to shorten the dress to match the fun, flirty vibe she envisioned—perfect for dancing the night away.
We also selected a skin-tone lining that matched her beautifully, so the beading could stand out while blending seamlessly with her complexion. It added this illusion-like softness that made the sparkle pop in such a refined way. The creation process was detailed and full of bling—every inch of the dress was hand-applied with intricate beadwork. And yes... it was heavy! All that sparkle came with some weight, but Dionna carried it with absolute grace and joy.
When the big day came, Boracay surprised them with a typhoon, but not even the weather could dampen their love or celebration. From the photos and posts, it was clear they were just enjoying every second—laughing, dancing, embracing the wind and waves. Dionna looked absolutely breathtaking, glowing in her custom reception dress that truly captured her fun-loving, glamorous spirit.
After the wedding, Dionna sent me the sweetest message that truly moved me.
She wrote, “The dress was a HIT. I cannot even tell you how everyone was so in awe of the dress. I am so appreciative of you and I am so honored to have worn one of your beautiful masterpieces. You are truly an ARTIST girl and I am so so thankful for you!!” Reading those words brought tears to my eyes. She went on to say, “It is more than I imagined it to be! Thank you for creating the perfect piece that beautifully depicts the beauty and richness of our roots. Perfect way to honor our culture while getting married in our motherland.”
As a designer, nothing fills my heart more than seeing a bride feel seen, radiant, and deeply connected to her heritage.
