A Sweet Love Story: Jeanel & Michael’s Filipiniana Wedding Journey
There are some brides who leave an imprint on your heart—and Jeanel is definitely one of them. A sentimental and sweet soul from California, Jeanel reached out to me over a year ago with a vision: to create a modern Filipiniana evening gown for her upcoming wedding reception. From her very first message, I could already sense her warmth and genuine excitement.
"The blend of traditional elegance and contemporary style fascinates me," she wrote in her initial application. "I believe your expertise would bring my vision to life perfectly."
From that moment, I knew we were about to embark on a beautiful journey together.
Ella & Jeanel’s 1st Consultation ♥
A Bride Full of Love
Jeanel's love story with Michael is something out of a movie. She shared with me their breathtaking engagement video—filmed during a surprise proposal in the Philippines. Surrounded by her friends and family (everyone knew except her!), Michael got down on one knee in the most heartfelt way. Watching that moment made me teary-eyed. It was a perfect reflection of the kind of love they share: intentional, joyful, and full of warmth.
During our consultations, Jeanel's joy and excitement were contagious. She spoke about Michael with so much love—it made every conversation feel like we were creating something truly special, not just a dress.
Designing Her Dream Dress
Over the span of a year, we poured so much care and thought into designing Jeanel’s gown. Her appreciation for Filipino heritage, blended with her modern taste, inspired a piece that was elegant, meaningful, and uniquely hers. It was more than just a dress—it was a representation of her identity, love story, and celebration.
Measurements Consultation with Ella, Jeanel & Joy ♥
One memorable moment during this journey was our measurements consultation. Jeanel brought along her cousin, Joy (—they have such a playful bond, I still smile thinking about it!). The room was filled with laughter, jokes, and a lot of heart. Watching them interact reminded me so much of my own relationship with my sister. Those little moments made this process not just about sewing fabric together—but stitching together memories and connections.
As part of our process, we also did a fitting where I sent Jeanel a full mock-up of her dress to check the fit before we began creating the final piece. It was important to me that everything felt just right on her—from the proportions to the way the silhouette moved with her. Jeanel was so graceful and detailed in her feedback, and it made the whole collaboration feel even more meaningful. Her trust in me and her excitement throughout each step made the process such a joy.
A Wedding Filled with Heart
When I finally saw the photos of her wedding, I was overcome with pride. Jeanel glowed. The way she carried the dress, with grace and confidence, made me emotional. Knowing that I had a small part in such an important chapter of her life is something I will always treasure.
A few weeks after her wedding, I received something so unexpected yet deeply touching—a handwritten letter from Jeanel. When I saw it in my mailbox, I was genuinely surprised, and as I read through her kind words, I couldn’t help but tear up. It was one of those moments that reminded me why I do what I do. Jeanel truly is such a sentimental bride, and as someone who’s sentimental myself, her gesture meant the world to me. I honestly feel so blessed that I get to work with such sweet, loving brides who pour so much heart not just into their weddings, but into the relationships we build together throughout this journey.
When I saw the photos and videos from her wedding reception, my heart could’ve burst—our girl Jeanel looked like she was having the time of her life, dancing, laughing, and celebrating in her Filipiniana dream dress. She wore it with so much joy and confidence, and it was everything we envisioned—traditional, modern, and full of heart.
To Jeanel: thank you for your trust, your kindness, and for allowing me to be part of your beautiful journey. Brides like you are why I do what I do.
