Her Inspiration & Vision

Kristein — or Kriss, as she warmly introduced herself — reached out with a heartfelt message nine months before her wedding. She knew from the very beginning that her dress would be different: not white, but full of meaning, color, and Filipino heritage.

She shared,

“I always knew it was never going to be white and I wanted it to honor my Filipino heritage.”

A few years before, Kriss discovered my designs and fell deeply in love with the Sonya ballgown in champagne. She remembered thinking, “This is the dress. This is the one I want to walk down the aisle to.”

When my bridal collections launched, she was thrilled that she could now have two looks in one dress — a signature MGC transforming Filipiniana — and reached out right away.

The Sketch & Creation

Kriss’ gown stayed true to the Sonya silhouette but with personalized touches that reflected her heart and love story. She wanted her Filipiniana to match her fiancé Keeno’s Barong, creating a beautiful harmony between their looks.

We designed her dream gown with:

  • A champagne A-line ceremony skirt that radiated grace.

  • A transforming Filipiniana design, transitioning seamlessly into a cute mini version for her reception.

  • A custom veil in champagne tulle, which was extra special since finding non-white veils proved stressful — so I made one just for her.

Even more meaningful, I left extra lace from her gown so she could create a small project with her Lola, who used to sew for her when she was younger — especially for her cosplays. This gave her a beautiful way to include her Lola in her wedding preparations, continuing a family tradition of love and creativity.

The Dream Dress Reveal

Kriss’ Dream Dress Reveal was a moment of pure joy. Her bridal party joined in for the consultation, filling the room with laughter, friendship, and excitement — girlhood at its finest.

She was sweet, bubbly, and full of light, and I genuinely appreciated the connection and friendship that grew between us throughout the process. Seeing her champagne Filipiniana come to life was emotional — she truly brought color and happiness into the atelier.

The Journey Summary

Working with Kriss was such a heartwarming experience. She approached her dress journey with so much thoughtfulness and excitement. From the start, she knew what she wanted but always welcomed collaboration and creativity.

Even when challenges arose (like the veil color or design tweaks), she handled everything with joy and grace. Her enthusiasm reminded me that bridal design is not just about the dress — it’s about the shared journey and connection.

The Outcome

Kriss’ final gown was a stunning champagne Filipiniana Sonya, transformed for both ceremony and reception. From her A-line silhouette to her playful mini version, every detail reflected her radiant personality and cultural pride.

Her matching look with Keeno’s Barong, her handmade veil, and her Lola’s special sewing touch made this dress a true heirloom of love, heritage, and family.

Congratulations, Kriss — your joy, warmth, and authenticity will always stay with me. You are truly one-of-a-kind. 💛
